Modernist architectures in Paris or Barcelona are all over the internet but in the other area, it is relatively unknown. I have made this blog to present Fin de siècle to early 20th century architectures, mainly Art-Nouveau and Art-Deco in non-mainstream countries i have visited.

Saga 1 chome, Koto ward, Tokyo
A nice building at the street intersection of Saga 1 chome south just next to Eitai post office in Koto ward, Tokyo. Looks like a pre-war building with a magnificent front portal facade. The building was commissioned from Murabayashi Trading company to the construction company Obayashigumi. The architect responsable for the design is Yotaro Sekine. The year of completion is unknown.

Harajuku JR station, Tokyo Japan 1925
The oldest wooden railway station in Tokyo build in 1925. It has a Jugentstil oriented front facade and some Art-Deco style stained glass in several places.

Isetan main store, Tokyo Japan 1926, 1933
The main store building of Isetan department store in Shinjuku at the intersection of Shinjuku and Meiji avenue. Originally a much smaller building of Hoteiya store built in 1926 with Neo-gothic elements, unfortunately now gone. Isetan purchused it in 1933 and extended, remodelled to the present appearance with Art-Deco elements.
